So we were almost 100% sure that the BlackBerry Pearl was coming to T-Mobile users on Tuesday, September 12th (199 USD with a two-year agreement, 399 without). That’s no big deal. However, we hadn’t before heard much word about when it would be released on other carriers. RIM and Canadian carrier Rogers officially announced today that the BlackBerry Pearl will be coming to Canadian shores in October, well before any other US carrier gets it (most likely due to exclusivity deals). While they don’t have a specific date for launch in their press release, BBHub is saying October 26th. We’ll hopefully have more for you on this by the end of the day.
“As Canada’s leading wireless carrier and data leader, Rogers Wireless is pleased to be the first to introduce the new BlackBerry Pearl in Canada,” said John Boynton, Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer at Rogers Wireless. “Leveraging the popular and proven BlackBerry platform, the BlackBerry Pearl is the handset for everyone, combining the most advanced voice and data features with multi-media features such as a media player and camera together in a small and powerful smartphone.”

Oh, sweet day, you have finally come. For those of you tired of all the Pearl coverage on BlackBerry Cool, you might as well not come back today: RIM has officially announced the BlackBerry Pearl!
“The BlackBerry Pearl elegantly combines an incredibly small, stylish and full-featured smartphone with the gold standard in wireless email and the result is something special. Through the integration of hardware, software and service, we are able to deliver a mobile experience that stands apart in the industry. We are extremely excited to be launching this breakthrough handset and we look forward to rolling it out around the world with our carrier partners,” said Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO, Research In Motion.
Mikey, we are also extremely excited! Let’s take a look at the official Pearl specs.

2) Just how successful will the Pearl be in the consumer market?
Depending on your geographic location, choice of carrier, and your budget, you may already know the answer to question 1, but let’s try a bit of analysis on question 2.

Although we are a little late on the Super KO Boxing review, everybody knew it was only a matter of time until it was added to the hotness section. By the way, did anyone notice our impressive new graphics in the hotness and whackness categories? Super KO Boxing is such a good mobile game that I’m ready to give up my first born for a copy of it; unless of course my first born is a copy of Super KO Boxing.

The DigiTimes is reporting that RIM has teamed with Taiwan Mobile to bring BlackBerry services to Taiwan. Norm Lo, vice president for Asia-Pacific at RIM, refused to comment on whether the contract between the two companies entitled Taiwan Mobile to exclusive BlackBerry rights in Taiwan, but did say that RIM currently has no plans to establish ties with other Taiwan telecom companies.
We should expect to hear some details on device announcements shortly.
