Tunglelaunched their web-based meeting organizer earlier this month, and now has cooked up an iPhone-capable site just for those few corporate iPhone users out there. It’s a pretty capable solution (especially for those poor souls without access to an Exchange server), featuring meeting requests, confirmations, and works across multiple platforms, like iCal.
Deutsche Telekom has gone on record at its recent annual meeting saying that iPhone customers on its T-Mobile network in Germany are using 30 times more data than users on other handsets. The company also reports that it has sold in excess of 100,000 units since the iPhone’s launch in November.
It was nearly a year ago that the Curve first hit Bermudan shores, but now the Wi-Fi version from Digicel has lapped up on the tropical surf. Bermuda keeps a close eye on devices coming onto the island, one would presume to protect such a small and isolated market. It’s good to see that hasn’t stopped the new devices from coming in, even though it’s a little late to the party. I wonder how long it’ll take for Digicel to get the BlackBerry Bold out there…
Hey hey, we take back what we said about this being a slow summer. It looks like we’re going to be getting exactly what the BlackBerry Cool Nation loves this summer: new features and functionality for our BlackBerrys! OS 4.5 is set to hit this summer for all BlackBerrys except the 8707. Another interesting note is that OS 4.6 (i.e. the BlackBerry Bold’s OS) is set for the second half of this year, making it seem as though our thoughts that an August release of the Bold doesn’t seem too far off the mark. We’ll put the OS 4.6 stuff in its own post.
The HTC TyTN II Windows Mobile 6.1 build is almost finished as HTC is rumored to be in the final stages of preparing an official firmware update. The new version will be made available for HTC devices sometime over the next several days, with an AT&T version for the Tilt coming sometime after that. Expect to see threaded SMS, a Getting Started Wizard, and modest performance improvements.
For anyone still on the line between an upcoming 3G iPhone or the slick new BlackBerry Bold, The iPhone Blog has a nice comparison video. Just keep in mind the reviewer is an Apple fanboy - consider yourselves disclaimed. Supposedly, the BlackBerry 9000 got no inspiration whatsoever from the iPhone… decide for yourself. Also, Howard Chui also has a run-through of the BlackBerry 9000 compared to the 8800, if you’re considering an upgrade.
Although history might have proven hydrogen as a slightly volatile fuel source, Bic, the reknown manufacturer of pens and razors, is going high-tech and developing lighter-sized hydrogen fuel cells that can hold up to 5 full charges. Due in 2010, they’ll work in conjunction with traditional batteries, acting as a backup when required. As is, they’ll be separate from the mobile proper and built into holsters, which is a default resting spot for a lot BlackBerry users. With 3G, Wi-Fi and GPS becoming commonplace features, battery life is at a premium; new technology like this can really raise a device’s overhead.
Pocketnow has a great review up for the Ultimate 9502. This is a powerful WinMo device with triband HSUPA, TV out, 3 megapixel autofocus cam and VGA display. Apparently the GPS isn’t so great and the keyboard seems pretty small but it is still a very efficient device. We’re not sure about pricing but expect it to be a really pricey device.
BGR has posted pictures of the newest Palm device, the Treo 850. This Windows Mobile device looks consumer friendly with its contours and well-formed looking keys. It also packs a lot of punch with a 400MHz CPU and a 100MB of RAM. We don’t have any other details but we’ll follow up asap.

Mobile-ent.biz’s most recent editorial is about the amount of choice available in the mobile industry. The article uses Sociology professor Barry Schwartz’s book The Paradox of Choice, whose thesis is that too much choice makes consumers unhappy, as the basis for the article. Personally, I have to disagree and say that I will never [...]
The BlackBerry has always been a really unsatisfying device in terms of media. Getting a movie on your BlackBerry involves downloading 3rd party software and although music is a simple drag-and-drop, there aren’t any dedicated keys. To make up for this, RIM is working on a new application for the BlackBerry that will “transfer your [...]
