The Managing Director of Microsoft ODM embedded devices Eddie Wu has stated that Microsoft expects Windows Mobile-powered devices to account for 40% of the global smartphone market by mid-fiscal year, 2012. Wu also states that the company is focusing on Windows Mobile 6.1 in 2008 and has no plans to release version 7 until next year.
