A lot of people have been complaining about a flaw in the new Touch Diamond. Apparently its screen shuts off very quickly after you make a call. Well, it turns out that’s actually part of a very intelligent feature according to the people at xda-developers. They say that when making a call the screen stays on if you leave the phone lying flat on a table. But, if you wait 10 seconds into the call, you can pick it up to your ear and the screen stays on. If you make a call with the phone slightly tilted/slanted, the screen turns off as soon as the call gets connected. The moment you hold the phone to your head the screen turns off. In fact: the moment you cover the screen with anything it turns off. When you turn the screen back on manually however, it stays on no matter if you hold it in your hand or up to your head.
This is a pretty intuitive feature since you’re not going to be looking at the screen when it’s pressed against your ear, and there’s no reason to let it waste battery life that way. A foreseeable problem, however, could be is that when you take it away from your ear, the screen doesn’t automatically come back on. But it’s likely to be fixed in a ROM update if it is able to sense when the phone is or is not in a vertical listening position or the screen is covered up.
