Can you read this QR code?
A Quick Response code is the 2.0 version of a bar code. They can contain much more information than a bar code. The codes are great for the mobile space because with your average camera phone, you can read these codes.
A QR Code is a matrix code (or two-dimensional bar code) created by Japanese corporation Denso-Wave in 1994. The “QR” is derived from “Quick Response”, as the creator intended the code to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed.
Currently QR codes are being adopted at a very slow pace in North America. This is compared to our Japanese friends, who have adopted the codes on a massive scale. At the last conference I was at, a Japanese guy gave me a business card that had his bio attached in QR code form. I could read the code with my iPhone, and using software such as BeeTagg, I would be taken to his company’s website. He didn’t even have to know how to speak English, because the QR code would do the English introductions for him.
