Sony Ericsson’s W902 “Patti” packs a decent music punch for the low end user
The W902 Patti is packing quad-band GSM/EDGE with UMTS/HSDPA 2100 data, 5 megapixel camera, 8GB of M2 memory, and 2.2-inch, 240 x 320 pixel display. On top of that the phone has a a pair of premium HPM-77 headphones.
The W595 shares the same radios but packs in stereo speakers, 2GB of M2 memory, a 3.2 megapixel camera, motion sensing Shake control, and a stereo Share jack to split the music with a friend.
Last but not least, the quad-band GSM/EDGE W302 neglects 3G entirely in favor of a low price tag and dreams of mass adoption. As such, it offers a number of middling specs like a 2 megapixel camera, 512MB of M2 memory, FM radio, and stereo Bluetooth. All three Walkmans will hit select markets in Q4.

We might have caught a glimpse at the BlackBerry Thunder, but we’ve got a bit more eye candy, and is it looking slick, or what? The shots look like they came from a document detailing some of the OS 4.7 multimedia functions of the unreleased touchscreen BlackBerry due out sometime before Christmas for CDMA carriers. The BlackBerry Thunder will apparently be packing a glass 360 x 480 screen, which seems like more than enough for full videos. The media player will also feature carrier music stores, which would be a great way to grab tunes wirelessly to your device. When recording video, you’ll be able to preview the whole thing in landscape mode, too. Not too shabby at all.
The touchscreen has been a point of contention, both among handheld users as well as RIM’s execs, but one way or the other, there’s a market for touch devices, and with the BlackBerry Thunder, RIM is clearly on board. Between the flip BlackBerry Kickstart, the Curve-style BlackBerry Javelin, the upcoming Bold, and now the BlackBerry Thunder, it’s clear that there’s a wide array of tastes BlackBerrys can reach out to. So, who’s salivating?

If you’re looking for a decent alternative for the HTC Diamond, you may want to look at the GSmart MS820. It has a 2.8″ VGA screen and an Intel XScale 520MHz processor with 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM. It is a quadband GSM phone (and will thus work in the US) with HSDPA, plus WiFi, GPS and FM radio.
Unique for the the MS820 is its flush touchscreen with minimal buttons on the facade and for a Windows Mobile devices, it’s got an impressive 4.9MP camera with a flash.

It looks like Motorola and Verizon are getting ready to take a third crack at the Q9 form factor, following up the Q9m and Q9c — and this time around, there are apparently a few extras to look forward to: On top of the EV-DO Rev. A radio, the currently codenamed “Napoleon” features GSM, for the traveling business person, of course. It looks like Motorola has taken this opportunity to doll up the device a bit too with a rounded body and a ring of chrome around the top edge. They’ve even added in a fingerprint scanner for good measure. No word on a release date or price, but we can’t wait!
If you just can’t wait to check it out, head on over to Boy Genius’ gallery — he’s got a few great pics.

The CDMA version of HTC Touch Diamond is coming to Canada but clearly Sprint and Verizon in USA (which also are carriers that use CDMA) will get it soon too. It looks a bit differently than GSM/HSDPA version:

… but it is basically the same phone. With tilt sensor and several neat features like the virtual wheel under the display and magical stylus that turns display on after being pulled out, this phone is worth recommending.
According to Telus: “The HTC Touch Diamond is the sexy smartphone that can do it all, thanks to its super sleek design and high resolution display with TouchFLO 3D interface. Browse the Web and with one-touch access, check out videos on YouTube and make plans on Facebook. Store and listen to thousands of songs with the media player and 4 GB internal memory. Plus, snap and send the perfect pics to your friends with the 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus. With all its savvy features, the HTC Touch Diamond will be your new best friend.”

While Rogers and AT&T dates for BlackBerry 9000 launches have been ball-parked to late summer, we’ve heard little from the other side of the pond until now. T-Mobile’s German site is showing off the Bold due in “Juli”, and carrying a €550 ($US 860) pricetag without contract and as low as €90 ($US 140) with an agreement, which should give us a good idea of how much we can expect to dish out when the thing lands up here. Pretty affordable with the plan, and with rumours of the Kickstart’s pricetag, it looks like we’re looking at some competitive prices all around for the next batch of devices.

Happy 4th of July everyone! Today is the day that Will Smith fought off a bunch of aliens who blew up the White House and tried to win the war with some crazy shield technology. But in all seriousness, what a blessing it is to be separate from Britain. They eat deep fried Mars bars. Have a great day everyone and enjoy sweet Independence.
