Rumor: HTC developing Touch HD Pro

HTC Touch HD Pro

A Touch HD Pro is a great idea. There are many situations where you’ll be much more comfortable typing on a keyboard than you would on a touch screen. Emails, for example, are best written on a keyboard. The BlackBerry Storm is supposed to revolutionize the way we type on a touch screen, but even they might be abandoning that format for the BlackBerry Magnum. The BlackBerry Magnum, for those who haven’t heard, is basically a BlackBerry Curve with a touch screen. Making it a heavy duty Treo-like device.

Size isn’t really a big deal for me because it usually means a bigger screen which is fine by me. That being said, I’m still curious to see how big the HTC Touch HD Pro will be.

Presenting the HTC Touch Diamond

There have been rumors and pictures floating around for a while, but we’re finally seeing the official announcement of the HTC Diamond. The phone runs Windows Mobile 6.1, and packs GPS, HSDPA, 802.11b/g, Bluetooth, a 3.2 megapixel camera and 4 gigs of storage into a very tight little package. It features a new touch interface for the 2.8 inch screen, and it can also switch from portrait to landscape mode while browsing the web. It also comes with a custom YouTube application, which should make QuicklyBored happy. It’ll hit Europe, Asia, and the Middle East in a couple months, with a North American release coming in the second half of this year. Full list of specs and a picture gallery after the jump.

HTC Patents New Slider

HTC has filed a patent for a new type of slider phone that allows users to choose between keypad entry and full keyboard entry a-la-Helio-Ocean by sliding the screen at a funny angle. These mock-ups by UnwiredView give us an idea of what the final product might look like. Interesting idea, but it seems silly to make the screen so small when the keyboard already sets the footprint size. We’ll have to wait to see the final product, I guess, but you can see the sketches they submitted for the patent behind the jump.

HTC Touch Cruise First Look

HTC has added a new Touch to it’s lineup in the form of the rather nice-looking Touch Cruise. This new Touch Cruise features a bright 2.8″ touch screen, GPS, a MicroSD slot, a 3MP camera on the back and another VGA camera on the front for video calls… pretty good specs. It is also sporting Tri-band UMTS/HSDPA and Quad-band EDGE/GPRS, Bluetooth and Wifi, which is nice. The guys over at MobilityToday have a nice first-look if you want some more details.
